On March 6, 2019, Mr. Ricardo Mena, Chief of Supporting and Monitoring Sendai Framework Implementation Branch, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) visited the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) and had a meeting with Secretary-General LEE Jong-heon and Deputy Secretary-General YAMAMOTO Yasushi. On behalf of the TCS, SG LEE expressed his firm commitment to trilateral cooperation in the field of disaster risk reduction (DRR), and highlighted that the TCS will continuously engage in the field while maintaining close communication with UNISDR. Mr. Mena introduced the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (Sendai Framework) and said that China, Japan and the ROK are essential partners for its implementation. He also called for improving cross-functional collaboration by accelerating dialogues among different ministries and countries for DRR, and looked forward to deepening cooperation with the TCS in this regard.
