The Belt and Road International Youth Forum 2019 was held in Seoul, ROK on February 26, 2019. This Forum was organized by New Silkroad Institute and Korea China Association for Cultural Exchange under the main theme of the “Intersection Between the UN SDGs and the Belt and Road Initiative.”
On behalf of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretary (TCS), Secretary-General (SG) LEE Jong-heon attended the Forum and delivered congratulatory speech. In his speech, SG LEE emphasized the strategic importance of ‘interconnectivity’ in this intertwined global society and called for collective efforts and wisdom together. In this sense, he stated that the Forum served as a meaningful and timely occasion to gather commitment to advance towards community of common destiny for mankind. Furthermore, SG LEE explained that CJK countries are also fully committed for shared prosperity and stability, and that the trilateral cooperation can help to fill out the missing links and furthermore bring substantial momentum into the framework of Belt and Road Initiative.
The Forum brought more than 150 participants including young generations from all over the world, who are very interested in both the Belt and Road Initiative and the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) of the UN. Working group discussion among the young generation was also held to thorough share ideas on the relationship between Belt and Road Initiative and the specific goals of the SDGs.
