On May 21, TCS delegation participated in a meeting of Japanese CAMPUS Asia universities. CAMPUS Asia program manager professors from Japanese universities responsible for each of the 17 participating consortia attended the meeting. Other attendees at the meeting included officials from Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, Sports and Technology (MEXT), JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science), and Japan National Institute for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education (NIAD-QE). The meeting was held in Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT) with the organization of TIT CAMPUS Asia Office.
During the meeting, participants discussed the third phase of the CAMPUS Asia program. Main topics of discussion included the potential of expanding CAMPUS Asia Program partner institutions to those in the ASEAN region, means to improve the implementation of the CAMPUS Asia Program, and scholarship issues. TCS delegation delivered a presentation about the Secretariat’s role in the CAMPUS Asia Program as well as in the broader China-Japan-ROK trilateral education cooperation framework.
After the meeting with Japanese CAMPUS Asia universities, TCS delegation attended a consultation meeting with officials from MEXT. The main agenda of the meeting were i) schedule of the 7th Meeting for China-Japan-ROK Committee on Promoting Exchange and Cooperation among Universities and the 3rd Trilateral Education Ministers’ Meeting (TEDMM) , ii) TCS’ contributions to CAMPUS Asia alumni community development, and iii) progress in the CJK Joint Research Project on Mutual Recognition of Degrees, a follow up project of the 2nd TEDMM.
