The opening ceremony of the 12th China-Northeast Asia Expo and the 10th high-level Forum on Northeast Asia Cooperation was held on August 23rd in Changchun, China. H.E. Mr. HU Chunhua, Vice Prime Minister and other high-level officials of China, Japan, ROK, Russia, Mongolia and DPRK attended and spoke at the opening ceremony and forum. As one of the signature side events of the Expo, the 1st China-Japan-ROK Entrepreneurship Summit themed “Development Opportunities for SMEs in the 5G New Era” was held on the morning of August 24, where Deputy Secretary-General HAN Mei led TCS delegation to participate as one of the co-organizers.
President XI Jinping sent congratulate letter to the Expo. In the letter, he highly recognized Northeast Asia being one of the world's most dynamic regions. He indicated that the joint construction of the Belt and Road continued to inject new momentum into expanding and deepening cooperation in the region. He encouraged the states in the region to continue to develop strategic synergies, build open regional economy, and co-create new chapter for Northeast Asia (NEA).
H.E. Mr. HU Chunhua emphasized that China would continue to provide an open market and protect foreign investment and IPR. He welcomed participants to leverage the Expo to deepen communication and reach many practical cooperative outcomes.

At the CJK Entrepreneurship Summit, DSG Han delivered remark at the opening session. She congratulated on the host of the Summit. She recognized the opportunities and challenges brought by 5G, especially to the SMEs. She believed that with joint efforts, China, Japan, and the ROK, who attach tremendous importance to innovation, science and technology, would explore more synergies and cooperative opportunities which would lead to co-prosperity. DSG HAN indicated the consensus and determination that the three parties reached on free and open trade at the past 9th Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Beijing. She expressed that TCS would stand along with all relevant parties to promote economic cooperation in the new 5G era and showed her confidence in Changchun’s future development in the 4th industrial revolution.
After the Summit, DSG Han was interviewed by the Xinhua News Agency where she underlined that 2019 marked the 20th anniversary of trilateral cooperation and the space is still vast for ongoing and close collaboration among the three countries.
Other events such as the 19th Consultative Commission Meeting of the Greater Tumen Initiative as well as the 2019 Northeast Asia Business Cooperation Forum also took place during the Expo. GTI CC reviewed past GTI and member states’ progress and previewed future strategies. At the forum, subject matter experts presented their insights on promoting co-prosperity in NEA.
The China-Northeast Asa Expo is a national-level exhibition, approved by the State Council of China, and jointly hosted by MOFCOM, National Development Reform Commission of China, CCPIT, People’s Government of Jilin Province, co-sponsored by 8 important business associations of the other five countries in NEA as well as TCS. Open globally and participated by six NEA countries, it is the only comprehensive international Expo at the national level. The 12th Expo is held on August 23-27, 2019.
