The 5th China-Japan-Korea Industries Expo was held on September 19 to 21, 2019 in Weifang, China. The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) co-organized the Expo and the TCS delegation led by Deputy Secretary-General KANG Do-ho attended the Expo. The Expo was co-organized by the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade of (JAPIT), and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) as well as the TCS.
On September 20, TCS Deputy Secretary-General KANG Do-ho delivered the congratulatory remarks at the Expo Opening Ceremony and the opening remarks at the CJK Industrial Cooperation and Development Forum. In his remarks, DSG KANG appreciated the event organizers and participating local governments, business sectors and experts for a timely event that would strengthen networking and cooperation among participants.
DSG KANG emphasized the importance of trilateral economic cooperation in the fields of supply chain connectivity, e-commerce, contents industry and standards and so on based on outcomes of the Trilateral Summit and the Trilateral Economic and Trade Ministers Meeting, especially when the world is facing new challenges such as the 4th industrial revolution, trade protectionism and increasing uncertainty.
On the same day, TCS Director of Economic Affairs QIAO Wen delivered congratulatory remarks at the China-Japan-Korea Business Association Roundtable Conference. Director QIAO expressed her wish for all participating agencies to discuss new ideas of CJK cooperation in various areas and how to bridge between those ideas. She highlighted that the trilateral cooperation would seek the greater benefit by promoting ‘Trilateral+X’ Cooperation based on the 9th Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Meeting which was held on August 21, 2019 in Beijing, China. Director QIAO added that this would bring prosperity and win-win results in Northeast Asia and beyond.
The CJK Industries Expo has been held with a goal of strengthening economic and industrial cooperation among the three countries since 2015. The TCS started to participate in the Expo as a supporting organization from the first year and has been a co-organizer since 2016. This year, the Expo gathered local governments, businesspeople and experts under the theme of “Innovative, Intelligent and Strengthened Industrial Growth, Featuring Openness, Integration and Reciprocal Benefits”. Total 451 companies attended the Expo and 44.1% of participants was non-Chinese companies.
