Secretary-General MICHIGAMI Hisashi attended the 12th Trilateral Economic and Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Beijing, China on December 22, 2019. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. ZHONG Shan, Minister of Commerce of China, and attended by Mr. SUNG Yun-mo, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the ROK, and Mr. KAJIYAMA Hiroshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.
At the Meeting, SG MICHIGAMI delivered the remark on the result of the Joint Study , which was coordinated by the TCS in close collaboration with the three Economic and Trade Ministries. He stated that the Joint Study summarizes the current domestic and cross-border of e-commerce activities in the three countries, analyzes elements for the trilateral cooperation on e-commerce including consumer protection and security, e-payment and delivery, and data flow. He appreciated the three Ministries for their continuous support for finalizing the Joint Study.
The three Ministers highly evaluated the result of the Joint Study and appreciated for TCS’s continuous efforts on facilitating the joint Study. The Ministers also discussed topics related to regional and international cooperation, and pragmatic topics including e-commerce, connectivity, energy, and aging society. Chinese Minister, Mr. ZHONG Shan, wished the discussion at the Ministers’ Meeting would make a good contribution to the Trilateral Summit to be held soon.
The TCS had coordinated the Joint Study with the participation of the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM), the Ministry of Trade, Economy and Industry of Japan (METI) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the ROK (MOTIE). The three research institutes were designated by each country: the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP).
