Seminar & Forum 2021 China (Anyang) International Conference of Chinese Characters

On October 19th TCS Deputy Secretary-General SAKATA Natsuko delivered congratulatory remarks via video at the opening ceremony of 2021 China (Anyang) International Conference of Chinese Characters.
In accordance with the conference theme, “Chinese Character and World Civilization” DSG Sakata shared her views on “Chinese Character and East Asian Civilization”. She emphasized that Chinese characters are a common cultural ground of China, Japan, and the ROK, and how its spread reveals the long history of interaction and cultural exchange which became the cornerstone of East Asian civilization. In this respect, she introduced the Trilateral Common Vocabulary Dictionary (TCVD) compiled by TCS, as a tool to facilitate mutual communication of the people in the three countries.
The 2021 China (Anyang) International Conference of Chinese Characters was held from October 19th to 21st in Anyang, Henan Province of China, hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the People’s Government of Henan Province. Experts gathered to discuss about Chinese character’s influence on world civilization, the international spread of Chinese characters and Chinese typography in cultural heritage. A speech contest by international students also took place as a side event.
