Others TCS Secretary-General OU Boqian Paid a Visit to Jeollabuk-do Province in ROK

On December 7th-8th, 2021, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) delegation, headed by Secretary-General OU Boqian, paid a visit to the Jeollabuk-do Province of the ROK at the latter’s invitation. The delegation met with vice governor and attended series of meetings and visits hosted by External Cooperation Bureau and International Exchange Center of Jeollabuk-do Provincial Government to introduce cultural and industrial attractions in Jeollabuk-do as well as its capacity to hold various international events.
In the afternoon of December 7th, SG OU had a meeting with Mr. CHO Bong-up, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Jeollabuk-do. Vice Governor CHO introduced two major policies of Jeollabukdo, which are innovation and development with people-oriented and harmonious with nature, saying that the car manufacturing, farming/agriculture, renewable energy, and tourism are major targeting industries for innovation. He also attached emphasis on carbon industry and ecological civilization to improve the quality of life. SG OU appreciated the people-oriented and harmonious policies of Jeollabukdo and congratulated the economic and social developments that the province has achieved so far. She noted that people-centeredness as well as harmony of people and nature are at the core of East Asian values, and highlighted that TCS is working to achieve lasting peace, common prosperity and shared culture. Both agreed to continue exploring collaborative projects, especially in cultural and economic areas. Before the meeting, SG OU met with Mr. HAN Min-hee, Director-General of External Cooperation Bureau of Jeollabuk-do Provincial Government.
During the two-day visit, TCS visited Jeonju Hanok Village, National Intangible Heritage Center, Gunsan Saemangeum Convention Center (GSCO), Chaeseokgang cliffs, and Seonyudo Island. The outreach visit aimed at deepening the cooperative relationship with Jeollabuk-do Province and expanding the trilateral projects among local governments of the three countries. Through the visit, the TCS delegation raised public awareness of TCS’s history, role and activities, and gained a general picture of cooperation achievements made by Jeollabuk-do Province with sister/friendship cities in Japan and China in wide-ranging areas of economy, environment, and people-to-people exchange.
