Seminar & Forum China-Japan-Korea "Z Generation" Youth Exchange Project Held in Wuhan, Hubei 2022.08.23

On August 23, 2022, the China-Japan-Korea "Z Generation" Youth Exchange Project co-hosted by the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), and the Information Office of Hubei Provincial Government, and organized by Hubei TV was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province of China. The theme of the event is "'Z Generation' of China-Japan-Korea, Hand in Hand for the Future". 

Amb. Ou Boqian, Secretary General of TCS, Amb. Wu Hailong, President of CPDA, Mr. Erkenjiang Tulahong, Vice Chairman of Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Amb. Hideo Tarumi, Japanese Ambassador to China, Amb. Chung Jae Ho, Korean Ambassador to China, and Mr. Liu Jinsong, Director-General of Department of Asian Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China attended the opening ceremony on-site or online and delivered remarks. More than 100 people including youth representatives of the three countries, government officials, diplomats, and media reporters were invited to participate in the event. 

TCS Secretary-General Ou Boqian introduced the achievements of the TCS in various fields since its establishment, especially the efforts made in promoting youth exchanges among the three countries. She noted that China, Japan and Korea are important members of the international community, the engine of global economic development, the new center of global trade, the important players of global innovation, and the world- class logistics center. “The trilateral cooperation has a pivotal position and influence internationally.” 

SG Ou said that China, Japan, and Korea have had friendly exchanges for thousands of years. “The cultures of the three countries interacted and merged in the exchanges, forming the common cultural value of East Asia shared by the three countries, which is the cultural foundation of the trilateral cooperation”. She emphasized that culture and youth are the important contents of future-oriented trilateral cooperation, the focus of the TCS’ work, and the keywords of this event. “The future of trilateral cooperation is in the hands of young people. We cannot change our history, but we can shape our future. The TCS will work hard to integrate and upgrade the existing youth exchange programs, build the ‘Trilateral Youth Exchange Network’ (TYEN), and make it a ‘Talent Pool’ and ‘Exchange Center’ for the youths of China, Japan, and Korea, so as to attract more attention from the youths and encourage them to participate in the trilateral cooperation and jointly contribute o the future of trilateral cooperation”. 

She specifically pointed out that we are currently experiencing profound international and regional changes, and the importance of trilateral cooperation is more prominent than ever. “For the lasting peace and common prosperity of the region, trilateral cooperation based on the shared culture is our common choice for the future of the region”. 

After the opening ceremony, the China-Japan-Korea "Z Generation" Youth Dialogue was held. Young guests from the three countries exchanged views on three topics: 1) Experiencing China-Japan-Korea by traditional culture, 2) Exploring the long-standing ties among the three countries, 3) Exerting the youth power of "Z generation" in the new era.
