Mechanisms Director General-level Consultation Meeting for the 4th Trilateral Ministerial Meeting on Water Resources 2024.04.15

On April 15, 2024, the 2nd Consultative Meeting for the 4th Trilateral Ministerial Meeting on Water Resources was held in Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) conference hall. 

As a follow-up of the working-level consultation meeting was held online on January 30th, delegations headed by Director General-level officials of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, (Ministry of Water Resources of China, Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan) and TCS joined together to discuss the preparation of the upcoming Ministerial Meeting which will be held in May 2024. 

During the meeting, detailed arrangements and the text of the joint statement were reviewed by the Director General level officials. TCS Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang delivered opening remarks by warmly welcoming the delegates from CJK, emphasizing the importance of reconnection and recommitment to shared objectives among the participating countries. He highlighted the significance of this meeting as it marks the first face-to-face interaction in six years since the last Ministerial Meeting on Water Resources in 2018. He added that TCS would like to take this DG-level meeting as an opportunity to reconnect and recommit to our shared objectives. 

The 4th Trilateral Ministerial Meeting on Water Resources will be held on May 20th in Bali, Indonesia.
