1. The 2nd Trilateral
Table Top Exercise (TTX) will be held on March 6-7 2014, at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of Japan. The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) is the
organizer and facilitator of the TTX, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
the Cabinet Office of Japan will be the host of this year.

(10:00 – 10:15 a.m.) is open to media.
Photography, videotaping, and sound recording will be allowed during
this time.
2. After the Great East
Japan Earthquake of March 2011, pursuant to the decision of the leaders of
Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK), and the People’s Republic of China (China)
at the 4th Trilateral Summit held in Tokyo, Japan, in May 2011, the 1st TTX was
held in Seoul, the ROK, in March 2013. As one of the outcomes of the 3rd
Trilateral Heads of Government Agency Meeting on Disaster Management held in
Seoul, the ROK, in October 2013, the heads of government agencies from the
three countries reaffirmed their commitment to designing regular programs on
TTX to prepare for natural disasters.
3. The 2nd TTX is participated by the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and the Cabinet Office of Japan; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the
Ministry of Civil Affairs of China; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and National
Emergency Management Agency of the ROK. In addition, experts from the United
Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will deliver presentations from
international and local viewpoints.
4. According to
Secretary General Mr. IWATANI Shigeo of the TCS, “the 2nd TTX will increase
mutual understanding of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief mechanisms
and processes of the affected country (Japan) and assisting countries (China
and the ROK) in response to large-scale natural disasters.”
